The Top 10 Most Pet-Friendly Restaurants and Bars in San Antonio
Pet parents, rejoice! Thanks to its sun-soaked locale, San Antonio is one of the best cities in the US for outdoor dining, which means there are TONS of places here that have pet-friendly patios and outdoor spaces. No need to leave your fur-babies home alone. You can easily bring along your emotional-support-best-friend to a number of restaurants in the Alamo city. Here are my top 10 most pet-friendly restaurants and bars in San Antonio, that actually have good food and drinks too!
ABOUT US
We’re Kelsey and Sara, two local foodies with a combined 29 years of eating in San Antonio, two travel books, and millions of blog readers. We adore local spots, rarely visit chain restaurants, and we aren't afraid to tell you the truth. After spending thousands of our own $$$ at hundreds of local hot spots, we're sharing the best with you.
Pet-Friendly Restaurants and Bars in San Antonio
Elsewhere

Elsewhere may just be the most pet-friendly bar in the whole of SA. Nestled along the banks of the river near the museum reach portion of the Riverwalk, Elsewhere is an exceptional bar with solid drinks (over 50 beer options) and pub-standard (but really good!) food. More than that, Elsewhere has a gorgeous covered patio with lots of greenery, great river views, and pooches galore.
I’ve never been to Elsewhere when there wasn’t a dog in sight. In fact, Elsewhere claims that they don’t just do dogs, they do goats, llamas, snacks, ducks, cats, and more. And with misters, lots of shade, water stations, and a special hamburger patty for puppies, Elsewhere is not just pet-friendly, they are just about pet-perfect.

Reese Bros BBQ or Pinkerton’s Barbecue
While many of the local BBQ joints have outdoor, covered patios, two rise above the rest for being pet-friendly. Reese Bros BBQ and Pinkerton's Barbecue, two of the best barbecue spots in San Antonio, also welcome leashed pets to their patios. You won’t have to pick between your furry friend and your meat cravings, just do them a little favor and share!
Brisket is the name of the game at both locations. Highly recommend adding some delicious sides – like Reese Bros poblano mac and cheese or Pinkerton's duck and sausage jambalaya – for a fantastic BBQ meal.

Hops and Hounds

It’s all in the name - beer and dogs. With an on-site dog park, river views, and a quality drinks list, Hops and Hounds has fashioned itself as the ideal pet-friendly restaurant and bar in San Antonio. And while they don’t have a food menu, you can grab some grub at one of the two food trucks including Benji’s Munch (one of the best burger places in San Antonio) and Garcia Barbecue.
Hops and Hounds takes it a step further by offering party packages for your pooch. So, grab your pupper, 15 of their closest friends, and head to Hops and Hounds where they will be treated to pup cups, dog park passes, cake, decorations, and if you want, a boat ride down the river. Who needs Chuck E. Cheese when you’ve got Hops and Hounds?

Cappy’s Restaurant

Pets can even find a place at a few more upscale SA restaurants including Cappy’s Restaurant. This longtime seafood favorite provides water dishes on their outdoor patio so your four-legged friend can come along and enjoy.
Food here is excellent with a choice of seafood and steak. You cannot go wrong with their exceptional scallops or halibut as both are on point.

La Fonda on Main is another higher end restaurant with a GORGEOUS deck that welcomes leashed pets. Your dog will be welcomed here and treated like family while you enjoy some of the best Tex-Mex San Antonio has to offer served by one of its oldest eateries.
Looking to celebrate, La Fonda on Main isn’t just for dining, but full-on celebrations. La Fonda has hosted countless weddings, anniversaries, and of course, adult birthday celebrations over the years and makes for a great venue to party alongside your pooch.

The Friendly Spot
It’s just a bar. But a good one. Relaxed. Open. Welcome. And highly pet-friendly. Two thumbs up.
The Friendly Spot is a great place to bring your bud and hang out. As one of the best places to eat (or drink) in Southtown, the Friendly Spot offers that old-school icehouse experience complete with nearly 400 canned or draft beer options.

Chicken N Pickle

Chicken N Pickle is all things chicken, pickleball, and pets! They pride themselves on being a very pet-friendly establishment and in that vein, offer water bowls and plenty of treats on their outdoor patio to keep the puppers busy.
Given the variety of things to do here – eating and playing – Chicken N Pickle has established itself as one of San Antonio’s premiere family destinations. And pets are most definitely family.

The Cove
The Cove isn’t just a pet-friendly restaurant and bar in San Antonio – it is all things friendly. Families, singles, young, old – the Cove welcomes all. With a large outdoor space, playground, and doggy run, the Cove is a great place to bring families of all sizes, including both two and four legged members.
But it’s not just fun, the Cove has great food. Really great food. With a focus on local, organic, and high quality, the Cove has managed to create a menu with comfort foods that wow. My faves are far and away the blue bison burger and the fish tacos, which are served up on crazy delicious non-GMO blue corn tortillas. So yummy.

Dos Sirenos

As one of the best craft breweries in San Antonio, Dos Sirenos has it all – great craft beer, an extensive food menu, and a dog-friendly patio that often shows live music. The last few years have been hard on local breweries, but Dos Sirenos is managing to thrive with a fantastic product that can be shared with your furry friend.
